What to expect

From 18 September to 3 October 2027, Oktoberfest 2027 invites you to the Theresienwiese. The dates have been confirmed by the official Oktoberfest website. If you are planning your visit, you can find reliable information here on the dates, admission, festival site and how to get there. The detailed programme for 2027 has not yet been published, so outstanding details are clearly marked.

Oktoberfest 2027: dates and visitor planning

Oktoberfest 2027 begins on Saturday, 18 September, and ends on Sunday, 3 October 2027. The official opening times for rides and sales stalls 2027 have been published and are listed in the daily schedule. The traditional opening ceremony is scheduled for 12 o’clock on the first Saturday. The individual days are listed with their officially published time slots. Check the official website shortly before your visit.

Oktoberfest 2027: festival grounds and attractions

The Wiesn combines classic fairground attractions with modern rides. The official event website describes more than 130 showmen as a typical part of the festival and features, among other things, a Ferris wheel, a wave swing and the Teufelsrad. Which rides and showmen 2027 will actually be approved has not yet been decided; a reliable line-up of rides has not yet been published. So don't plan around a particular new ride unless it is listed in the official programme.

Festival tents and food

Large and small festival tents, beer gardens, and numerous food and sales stalls shape the grounds. Traditional offerings include Bavarian food, non-alcoholic drinks and Munich festival beer. A confirmed tent list, reservation details, menus and drink prices for 2027 are not yet available. Entry to a tent does not automatically mean you have a reservation; admission may be restricted when it is busy. For reservations, use only the tent operators linked to on the official Oktoberfest website.

Oide Wiesn and family attractions

The Oide Wiesn recalls earlier festival days with historic rides, music and traditional customs. It was established in 2010 to mark the 200-year anniversary and has since been a separate area within the event concept. Whether, and in what specific form, all the attractions 2027 will take place will only be confirmed with the annual programme. Entry to the regular Wiesn is free; individual ride prices and offers for 2027 may still vary. Separate admission rules apply to the Oide Wiesn. Fireworks have not been officially confirmed either.

History and significance

The first Oktoberfest took place in 1810 to celebrate the wedding of Crown Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese. The festival grounds are still named Theresienwiese. The horse race held at the time grew into an internationally renowned fair, combining tradition, showmanship and festival tent culture. For context: the state capital reported around 6,5 million visitors to the Wiesn in 2025. This figure applies only to 2025 and is not a forecast for 2027.

Admission and programme details yet to be confirmed

According to the official visitor information, there is no admission charge for the regular Oktoberfest grounds; you pay separately for individual rides, food and drinks. The Oide Wiesn has its own rules and usually charges an admission fee, but the amount for 2027 has not yet been confirmed. A full supporting programme, special event days, music programmes, the opening ceremony schedule and any safety requirements will be published later. Do not buy purported general Wiesn admission tickets from unofficial sellers.

How to plan your visit to the Wiesn

The state capital has also already published the opening times for rides for 2027. So you can already plan around the different weekday schedules. For example, rides will not start operating on the first Saturday until the official opening at midday. The regular morning opening times apply on the other Saturdays.

It's also worth visiting the Oide Wiesn for its historic atmosphere. However, separate admission and access rules apply there. So if you plan to visit both areas, check the official visitor information. Travelling by public transport is also recommended at weekends. This helps you avoid looking for parking near Theresienwiese.
