Altstadtkirmes Metelen 2027: From Friday, 23 July, to Sunday, 25 July 2027, the town invites you to its traditional fair in the town centre. The date follows the official rule for the last weekend in July. The market regulations already set the daily opening times; the specific rides programme for 2027 has yet to be announced.

Altstadtkirmes Metelen 2027: fairground and location

The Altstadtkirmes fills several parts of Metelen town centre. According to the town, the fair stretches from the area around Neutor via Sendplatz to Mühlentor. This turns squares and streets into one continuous funfair route. Sendplatz is a good starting point for your visit. The nearby shops and places to eat are also within easy reach. The fairground set-up may temporarily affect the central bus station and nearby parking areas.

Rides and attractions

Showmen traditionally offer rides for different age groups, game stalls and sales stands. Children’s attractions are just as much a part of a funfair visit as lively rides for teenagers. Food and drinks are also sold. However, no current, officially confirmed line-up of rides is available yet for Altstadtkirmes 2027. We therefore do not list rides from previous years as definitely confirmed. The exact line-up will only become clear with the new market plan.

Food and family activities

The funfair site has traditional funfair food stalls and confectionery stalls. You can also stroll through the old town and experience the special atmosphere of a fair in the town centre. This makes for a varied day out, where you don't have to visit only the rides.

Altstadtkirmes Metelen 2027: Dates and opening hours

The municipality has set the last weekend in July as a fixed period in its market regulations. This means that in 2027 the funfair runs from Friday, 23 July, to Sunday, 25 July. The official notice also specifies daily opening hours. On Friday, it is open from 15 to 24. On Saturday, the funfair runs from 14 until 1 at night. On Sunday, the hours are 11 to 23. These details come from the current market regulations and are included in full in the schedule.

History and programme

For the traditional editions, the municipality announces a ceremonial keg tapping at 15 on Friday at Sendplatz. In previous years, there has also been a Sunday opening for shops and other activities in the town centre. It has not yet been confirmed separately whether these individual programme items will take place in the same way in 2027. They are therefore not listed as confirmed programme items. Additional events can be added as soon as a new announcement is available.

Admission, parking and how to get there

Sendplatz in 48629 Metelen is a useful central landmark. The funfair also extends along other streets between Neutor and Mühlentor. Allow for possible road closures due to set-up and changes to bus routes. If you are travelling by public transport, check the current stops. Drivers are advised to use the signposted parking areas outside the funfair site itself.
