Einsiedeln – Einsiedeln fair 2027

The Chilbi Einsiedeln 2027 takes place from Sunday, 29 August to Tuesday, 31 August 2027. Switzerland Tourism and the local events calendar confirm these three event days. A traditional amusement park with rides, game stalls and club-run food stands is set up by Brüelschulhaus and in Paracelsuspark. The Chilbi is complemented by the St.-Verena market on Monday and Tuesday and the traditional Chilbi Schwingfest on Sunday.

Chilbi Einsiedeln 2027: fairground and traditions

The Einsiedeln Chilbi is one of the region’s larger church fairs. According to the official district history, it is always held on the last Sunday in August and the following two days. The main area is by Schulhaus Brüel on Etzelstrasse 1. Local clubs also use areas by the Old Schoolhouse and in Paracelsuspark for their food stalls. This spreads visitors across several parts of the monastery town. The 2027 edition has already been announced for 29 to 31 August, so there is no need to estimate the date based on previous years.

Rides, food and entertainment

The traditional Chilbi features carousels, game stalls and food and drink. Switzerland Tourism mentions a Ferris wheel, Magenbrot and candyfloss among its characteristic offerings. In Paracelsuspark, local clubs run their sometimes unusual food stalls. However, the specific rides that will actually be on site in August 2027 will only be announced later. Chilbi Einsiedeln 2027: opening times

Opening times have not yet been fully published. The Einsiedeln district reported that in 2026, the Chilbi opened at 13 on Sunday and ran until midnight on Tuesday. However, the daily closing and reopening times for individual rides were not fully specified. For this reason, no supposedly precise MEC daily schedule is listed. In the previous year, some club-run food stalls opened as early as 11 on Sunday. This should not be taken as the opening time for all carousels. Wait for the latest district announcements for 2027.

Admission and festival programme

The Verenamarkt is an important part of the event. It traditionally takes place on Monday and Tuesday on Hauptstrasse and by Sagenplatz. The Chilbi wrestling festival is also held on Sunday at Mätteli in Paracelsuspark. This brings together sporting traditions, a market and a funfair. The public festival area is normally free to enter, but rides, games, food and goods are charged separately. Different rules may apply to certain special offers. Exact market and wrestling festival times, as well as any admission prices for 2027, have not yet been announced.

Getting there and further information

Einsiedeln is in the canton of Schwyz and is accessible by train. From the station, you can reach the town centre and continue to Brüelplatz or Paracelsuspark. During the Chilbi and Verenamarkt, the main road and Sagenplatz are regularly closed to traffic for periods of time. The specific closure times 2027 have not yet been confirmed.
