What to expect
The Rheinkirmes 2026 took place from 17 to 26 July on the Oberkasseler Rheinwiesen in Düsseldorf. For ten days, this large summer fair brought together rides, food and drink, and Düsseldorf's marksmen's traditions. The setting by the Rhine and views of the Old Town also shaped the event. Here you can look back at this edition.
Rheinkirmes 2026 on the Rheinwiesen
The event site was opposite the Old Town, in the Oberkassel district on the left bank of the Rhine. This made the fair part of city life right by the river. A sprawling funfair covered around 165.000 square metres. The Rhine bridges also provided a striking backdrop for the illuminated rides. The location was therefore just as distinctive as the individual attractions.
Rides and family activities
Around 300 showmen and food and drink businesses were part of the offer, according to the closing statement. Many of them were taking part for the first time. This brought familiar funfair attractions together with new experiences. Alongside fast rides, the site featured activities for families. Games and a range of food and drink businesses added to the experience. The official report highlighted this mix as a particular strength.
Rheinkirmes 2026 and marksmen's traditions
Rheinkirmes was also a marksmen's festival and a local heritage festival. It was organised by volunteers from St. Sebastianus Schützenverein von 1316. The feast day of the city's patron saint, St. Apollinaris, played a central role. The traditional festival procession was also part of the local customs. This background helps you understand why the event was more than a collection of rides.
Food, drink and music by the Rhine
Festival tents, beer gardens and other food and drink options added to the festivities. The organisers' report also listed several free music events for different age groups. This meant the edition also offered space to meet friends and enjoy evenings together. You can find the specific dated highlights in this entry's programme. This keeps all the programme information in one place.
Looking back at the summer edition
The closing statement reported just under 4,1 million visitors. This confirmed the edition's importance as a major summer event. The organisers also highlighted the peaceful event and the cooperation of many people involved. This entry documents a past edition; it does not announce a future event. You can find more events in the funfair calendar.
