What to expect
The Dachauer Fair 2027 takes place from Saturday, 7 August, to Monday, 16 August 2027 at Ludwig-Thoma-Wiese. The city of Dachau has officially confirmed the dates. For ten days, you can enjoy a traditional fair with five festival tents, rides, music and Bavarian specialities. The children's parade is especially noteworthy; the city has explicitly announced it for Sunday, 8 August 2027.
Dachauer Volksfest 2027 at Ludwig-Thoma-Wiese
The fairground is at the foot of Dachau's old town hill. This means you can easily combine your visit with a stroll through the city. The fair is organised by the city, with contributions from many clubs and local businesses. Its history in an earlier form dates back to horse races in 1652. Since 1946, the fair has been held regularly in August around the Feast of the Assumption. Today, it is one of the region's main social events.
Rides and five festival tents
The fair traditionally features children's carousels, major rides, game stalls and a range of food and drink. There are also five different festival tents and hospitality areas with music and Bavarian cuisine. The city has named numerous attractions for 2026. However, which specific rides and stalls will take part in 2027 will not be confirmed until the site allocation is complete and the new site map is published. We therefore do not carry forward old line-ups of rides without checking them.
Dachauer Volksfest 2027: opening times and admission
The city of Dachau gives the general daily opening hours for the fairground as 12 to 24. Individual showmen and publicans are permitted to open from 10, but this does not mean that all businesses open at the same time. The structured MEC timetable therefore only lists the regular general fairground hours. Admission has been free at previous editions. Rides, games and food and drink cost extra; special offers may have their own conditions.
Children's parade and other fair traditions
A highlight of 2027 is the large children's parade on Sunday, 8 August. According to the city, it takes place every two years and has been specifically announced for the upcoming edition. Previous fairs have also featured a festival parade, an afternoon for senior citizens, a low-stimulation fairground day, a children's day, a family day, a hill-climb race and fireworks. The dates for these individual events in 2027 have not yet been confirmed. They are therefore not included as confirmed programme events without new confirmation.
