Dürkheimer Wurstmarkt 2027: Fairground and offerings
Celebrate at Wurstmarktplatz, below Michaeliskapelle. According to the official information, the main attraction is more than 300 award-winning wines and sparkling wines from Bad Dürkheim vineyards. At the heart of the event are 36 traditional Schubkarchstände, with narrow tables and benches. They are complemented by the wine village, the festival tent and food and drink stalls. The participating businesses, wines, dishes and festival tent offerings for 2027 have not yet been fully announced.
Rides and line-up
The Wurstmarkt includes a traditional fairground area with rides, attractions and amusements. The town publishes a separate site plan and attractions overview each year. Applications for 2027 are open until 15 October 2026, so there is not yet a confirmed line-up of rides for 2027. Specific rides or new attractions are deliberately not announced here in advance.
Programme, opening and fireworks
Traditionally, the first Wurstmarkt Friday begins with a concert in the square, a procession, a historical opening ceremony and the ceremonial keg tapping. Regular features also include the Literary Morning Pint, music in the festival tent and events celebrating wine and Palatinate culture. The full daily programme for 2027 has not yet been published. Fireworks, including the closing display, are only confirmed once the town announces the specific programme items and times for 2027.
History and significance
According to the town, the event dates back to the Michaelismarkt of 1417. The name Wurstmarkt became established at the beginning of the 19th century; since 1910, it has been held on the second and third weekends of September. Since 1985, celebrations have taken place over nine festival days. Today, the town cites more than 600 years of tradition, 36 Schubkarchstände, over 300 wines and sparkling wines, and more than 600.000 visitors. The event thus combines wine culture, regional history and the atmosphere of a large travelling fair.
Admission and visitor information
According to the official FAQ, you do not need a ticket for the festival grounds; admission is free. You pay separately for rides, food and drinks. Avoid bringing large bags and rucksacks, as they are checked at the entrances. The festival grounds are accessible, and accessible toilets near the Dürkheimer Riesenfass can be used with a Euro key.
