The Houtem Jaarmarkt 2026 traffic restrictions affect numerous roads in the centre of Sint-Lievens-Houtem. On 30 October, the municipality published specific no-stopping zones, closure times and diversions for the setup and market days. If you plan to travel to the fair from 10 to 12 November, you should plan your journey in advance.
The restrictions are particularly extensive from 11 November at 4 until 13 November at 6. During this period, Marketplein, Schoolstraat, Senator Verbrugghenlaan, Hofkouter, Eiland and sections of other streets are among those closed to through traffic. Restrictions also apply during set-up, from 5 November, in Edgard Tinelstraat, Paardemarkt and Kloosterstraat. The time periods vary, so the official list is essential.

Unclear sections are not confirmed closure boundaries. Suggested walking routes do not fully account for temporary structures and do not confirm accessibility. Only show entrances and disabled parking spaces when specifically verified.
Some parking areas are closed for considerably longer than the market days themselves. For example, parking has been prohibited on part of the Polbroek car park since 22 October, and the restriction remains in force until 17 November. Further restrictions around Marktplein, Markthal and Schoolstraat start in early November. Don’t simply park somewhere you found a space on a previous visit. Be sure to follow the signs on site.
The municipality has announced diversions for traffic coming from Oombergen and Wetteren. Routes for fair traffic include an inbound route via Oombergen, Polbroek, Aalmoezenie and Kloosterstraat, and an outbound route via Lochtingwegel, Diepestraat and Houtemstraat. These routes do not guarantee that you will be able to drive through at all times. Follow the current traffic signs and instructions on site.
Special parking spaces for disabled visitors are available in Mgr. Meulemanstraat, Diepestraat and Krabbenijkstraat, among other locations. As traffic in the centre may be congested, the free shuttle buses already announced for 11 and 12 November are a sensible alternative. Before setting off, check the exact boarding points and operating times on the official event website.
All the measures mentioned are based on the traffic notice from the municipality. There you can find the full list of affected roads and times. Further information about admission, the programme and the livestock market is available in our event listing for Houtem Jaarmarkt 2026. This way, you can plan your visit carefully instead of having to change your plans at a road closure.
