Worms – Wormser Backfischfest 2027

The Wormser Backfischfest 2027 takes place from Saturday, 28 August, to Sunday, 5 September 2027. The city of Worms has also officially confirmed the nine festival days. On Kisselswiese by the Rhine, the Backfischfest combines modern rides with wine-making traditions, festival tents and typical Worms customs. It is a separate event and should not be confused with the Wormser Pfingstmarkt in spring. The festival is a highlight of late summer for families and funfair fans.

Wormser Backfischfest 2027: festival ground by the Rhine

Backfischfest is one of the major fairs in Rheinhessen. A large festival area with rides, food and drink, and meeting places is set up on the Kisselswiese. Its proximity to the Rhine promenade also makes the site particularly appealing. The Wonnegauer Weinkeller, Wormser Stiftskeller and festival tent are also part of the usual offering. In the various areas, you can sample regional wines and combine your day with a stroll around the funfair.

Rides, game stalls and Worms specialities

Traditionally, you will find larger rides, children's carousels, lottery stalls and confectionery stalls at the festival ground. There is also savoury food and a range of beer gardens. However, no current line-up of rides has yet confirmed which showmen will be there in August 2027. We therefore do not list appearances from 2026 as confirmed attractions. Wormser Backfischfest 2027: opening times and admission

Opening times are provisional, as of 2026. In the previous year, the festival ground was open from 14 to 2 on most days; on Sundays, it opened at 12. These day groups are listed in the MEC schedule in accordance with the 2027 calendar. Individual festival tents and food and drink areas have their own opening times. According to the organisers, admission to the general festival ground is explicitly free. You pay separately for rides, food, drinks and special offers.

Fischerstechen, parades and nine days of discounts

Past highlights have included Fischerstechen, festival parades, music and a fireworks display. However, Fischerstechen was cancelled in 2026, so whether it will take place in 2027 remains uncertain. There is also no complete, confirmed daily programme for the next Backfischfest. We therefore do not list individual dates carried over from the previous year as confirmed. The free 9-day ticket also offers discounts at participating businesses. The organisers also explicitly state that there is normally no separate family day as there is at the Whitsun market.

Getting to Kisselswiese and site rules

The festival site is on the Rhine and is therefore easy to reach from Worms city centre. On busy weekends, we recommend travelling by public transport. Please observe the safety rules on the site: pets, glass bottles brought from outside, bicycles and scooters are among the items not permitted.
