Geilenkirchen Whitsun Market 2027: From Friday, 14 May, to Tuesday, 18 May 2027, the traditional Whitsun fair is scheduled to take place again at the Cityparkplatz on Beamtenweg. The dates can be calculated from the city's official annual rule: the market takes place from the Friday before to the Tuesday after Whitsun. The Whitsun market is one of the best-known fairs in the Heinsberg region. The City of Geilenkirchen's cultural office organises the event and selects the showmen for the fair. Cityparkplatz near Beamtenweg serves as the funfair site. The adjacent Wurmauenpark is also traditionally used for market stalls.

The city describes the Whitsun market as having a history of more than 550 years. What began with travelling entertainers and market criers developed into a large family fair. To this day, the site brings together fairground traditions, rides and a sociable atmosphere.

Rides, children's carousels and funfair favourites

In recent years, numerous rides, game stalls and sales stands have been available to visitors. Children could enjoy family-friendly carousels, while the bigger rides appealed mainly to teenagers and adults. There were also classic fairground attractions such as duck fishing, sweets and food stalls.

The rides that will actually be set up in 2027 have not yet been officially announced. Therefore, no individual attractions from the previous year's line-up of rides are presented as confirmed. A special feature of the event is the market stalls in Wurmauenpark on Whitsun Sunday and Monday. In previous years, around 50 traders sold goods ranging from handicrafts to household items. A family day with reduced prices on Tuesday and closing fireworks were also traditional highlights. However, the specific programme and times for 2027 have not yet been published.

Admission, parking and how to get there

Based on past practice, you can enter the funfair site without a ticket. You pay separately for rides, games and food. Public parking is available, among other places, near the railway station; for 2026, the city also listed disabled parking spaces at the Beamtenweg entrance and an accessible toilet in Wurmauenpark. Check the current situation before your visit, as Cityparkplatz is occupied during the fair.
