Highlights & records

Independent classic Wild Mouse; not identical to Wilde Maus XXL or the ride by Eberhard & Göbel/Göbel.

This Wild Mouse is all about tight turns and short drops – and, as the former half of a twin installation, it has a roller-coaster story all of its own.

This is what it's like to ride Wilde Maus Max Eberhard

At the start, the lift pulls the car up to the upper section of the track. The tight hairpin bends characteristic of this type of roller coaster follow. Because the turns are only slightly banked, the change from one direction to the next feels especially direct. From the outside, this often looks harmless. In the car, however, it feels as though it slides a little too far out at the turn before the track safely guides it around the bend.

As the ride continues, shorter drops alternate with turns. This keeps changing the movement: a straight section is followed by an abrupt change of direction, then another stretch with a drop. This sequence is the hallmark of a classic Wild Mouse. The experience differs from that of a long, high-speed roller coaster, which gets its thrills from big drops or inversions.

Wilde Maus Max Eberhard: History of the independent ride

The Wilde Maus, now operated by Max Eberhard junior, was built by Mack in 1995. The ride previously belonged to Stefan Kinzler of Waiblingen, who operated it until 2019. Its origins are particularly interesting because it was once part of a twin Wilde Maus installation. Two separate halves of the station stood side by side and could each carry their own passengers.

The other half of this original twin-track ride took a different path. It was used in amusement parks for a time and later expanded by the Eberhard family into Wilde Maus XXL. As a result, two different travelling roller coasters with a shared history exist today. Max Eberhard junior's classic Wilde Maus, by contrast, stayed with the familiar, more compact design.

This distinction is crucial for historical photos and ride lists. A photo of Wilde Maus XXL does not show the ride described here. Likewise, the Wilde Maus operated by Eberhard & Göbel, which is now associated with the Göbel operation, is another separate Mack roller coaster. Only the operator history and the specific design make it possible to identify it reliably. For funfair fans, it is this very complex history that makes a look behind the scenes of travelling roller coasters so fascinating.
