Break Dancer No 2 Dreher-Vespermann is the large HUSS version of the legendary round ride from Bremen. At the fairground, this ride stands out with its wide platform, six rotating gondola crosses and elaborate façade. The music and changing interplay of spinning movements make a visit a particularly dynamic funfair experience. Unlike a roller coaster, it has no track: the movement takes place directly on the tilted rotating platform.

Highlights & records

Prototype of the large HUSS project 21, with six gondola crosses and 24 gondolas; a standalone ride alongside Break Dancer No. 1.

Six crosses, spinning gondolas and music: this large Break Dancer combines the history of a showman family with a powerful round ride.

What it’s like to ride Break Dancer No 2 Dreher-Vespermann

After you get on, the large platform starts moving first. At the same time, the six crosses with their gondolas begin to spin. As the passenger cabins can also rotate freely around their own axes, your view keeps changing. One moment you see the façade, then the centre of the ride, and the next, the other gondolas. This combination creates the characteristic Break Dancer sensation of sideways acceleration and unpredictable rotation.

The large version is particularly impressive from the audience’s perspective. The crosses are spread across a wide platform, making several movements visible at once. There are also lighting effects and a music mix. If you enjoy intense round rides, this offers an experience centred not on a single high drop, but on a sequence of many changes of direction.

Break Dancer No 2 Dreher-Vespermann: the story of a pioneering ride

The story of this particular ride begins with the success of the Dreher showman family’s first Break Dancer. After its debut in 1985, HUSS developed a much larger version under the project name “Project 21”. In 1987, the first large Break Dancer was delivered to the then company Dreher-Zarnitz. Its debut was at the marksmen's festival in Braunschweig. This means it was not just any later copy, but the prototype for the large ride series.

The design studio afaw from Stuhr played an important role in its appearance. The original design drew on dance, urban motifs and the pop culture of the eighties. The lighting was later modernised without losing the distinctive concept of a disc, crosses and rotating gondolas. The operator family continued to run the business for several generations. Since 2001, the company has operated under the name Dreher-Vespermann.

One distinction is important for funfair fans: Break Dancer No. 2 is a standalone large ride, not the older, smaller Original Break Dancer No. 1 from the same family. The two share a history, but have different platforms and numbers of gondolas. This combination of family tradition and independent design makes the large Break Dancer a distinctive part of German fair history.

Who is the large Break Dancer suitable for?

Break Dancer No. 2 is particularly suited to fans of fast spinning rides. You should expect the gondola to change its orientation several times during a ride. The ride can be strenuous for people who are sensitive to repeated rotations. The experience also depends on how the ride is currently operated. So watch how the gondolas move from outside before you get on.

The specific admission requirements and safety instructions are displayed at the ride. Families can decide on site who wants to ride. Even without getting on, it is worth taking a look at the large, illuminated structure: the choreography of the crosses is a spectacle in itself, even from the edge of the fairground. On our rides page, you can compare the principle of rotating-platform rides with other types of carousel.
