Break Dance – Helmut Mondorf & Sohn
Huss Break Dance No. 1 with distinctive half-roof
Operator: Helmut Mondorf & Sohn (Oldenburg) · since 2008
Break Dance Mondorf is Break Dance No. 1, operated by the Helmut Mondorf & Sohn showman family from Oldenburg. The ride, built by Huss in 1992, is particularly well known at fairs in northern Germany. Its partial roof is especially distinctive. At the back, a roof structure covers the area while the gondolas rotate in front of it.

Highlights & records
Distinctive half-roof construction over the rear section of the rotating platform.
The Mondorf Breaker combines the classic triple spins of a Huss Break Dance with a striking, partially covered setting.
Break Dance Mondorf: What the ride feels like
The ride combines several movements. The large platform rotates, four gondola assemblies spin on it, and the individual gondolas can also rotate on their own axes. This means you are constantly facing in a different direction. The centrifugal forces change with every turn. Unlike a ride with a fixed track, there is no identical sequence of curves and changes of direction. The gondolas' free spinning is what makes this ride so surprising.
The ride has 16 gondolas in total, each with two seats. When fully loaded, 32 people can ride at the same time. With its wide rotating platform, music and partially covered rear section, the ride stands out on the fairground. If you prefer to watch, you can clearly see from outside how the gondolas rotate at different speeds and what riders experience in their seats.

According to Ride-Index, the ride's footprint is about 20 by 20 metres; it stands around ten metres tall. Its power connection is listed as 120 kilowatts. But it is not extreme height that defines the ride: it is the interplay of its different rotational movements. The half-roof construction gives Break Dance its own distinctive appearance. Together with the back wall, it forms a striking frame around the ride area.
Break Dance Mondorf: History and operator
Huss built the ride in 1992 as Break Dance 1. Ride-Index lists its construction number as 40. Until 2008, the ride travelled with Ruppert + Seitz from Bad Wildungen. The Mondorf showman family from Oldenburg then took over. This change of operator is part of the history of this particular ride. Other Break Dance rides with similar names should not be confused with it.
The ride has particularly close ties to fairs in north-west Germany. Documented stops include Kramermarkt in Oldenburg, Gallimarkt in Leer and Wochenende an der Jade in Wilhelmshaven. The ride also regularly appears at other events in the region. Its distinctive half-roof design makes it easy to recognise.
