Operator: Reto und Bea Büttiker-Mathys · since 2008

ManufacturerKMG

The X-Factory von Büttiker-Mathys is a travelling spinning ride from Switzerland. Its distinctive feature is the tilting effect: the row of seats moves up and down, changing its position as it does so. A water feature is also part of the concept. This combines a dynamic ride with an unusual view of the funfair.

Highlights & records

Miami-style wiper ride with a tilting effect and water feature; 18 seats per ride cycle.

X-Factory combines the typical Miami swing with a tilting effect, making it stand out clearly at the Chilbiplatz.

This is what riding X-Factory by Büttiker-Mathys is like

The ride is of the Miami type. Guests sit side by side in a long row while the arm moves in a swinging motion. This causes the height and direction of view to change continuously. Unlike a traditional circular ride, there is no entire platform with many individual gondolas rotating here. Instead, the shared row of seats is the main focus.

The manufacturer KMG calls the model family Tropical Trip. For this ride, the operator particularly highlights the tilting effect and the water feature. Both make the ride experience lively. The movement can also be followed easily from the ground. That is why X-Factory is also interesting for companions waiting nearby.

Layout, seating and access

X-Factory was built by the Dutch manufacturer KMG. Coasterpedia gives the capacity of this specific ride as 18 people per ride and a minimum height of 122 centimetres. A serial number is also documented. These details help distinguish X-Factory from other Miami rides with the same name.

The open design gives you a direct view of the movements. The changes between higher and lower positions are a defining feature. For visitors, X-Factory is therefore not an ordinary family ride, but an attraction with a noticeable sense of dynamism. The operator’s local access requirements apply when boarding.

History of X-Factory by Büttiker-Mathys

A ride database first documents the attraction with H. P. Maier in Switzerland, with an opening 2007. The Büttiker-Mathys operator family has included the Scheibenwischer in its own family chronicle since 2008. This makes it possible to trace the attraction’s transfer between Swiss showmen.

The Büttiker-Mathys family has a long tradition in fairgrounds. Their history stretches back several generations. Older family members already operated children’s flying rides, a swinging ship ride and a swing ride. Later, modern round rides were added. The X-Factory adds a particularly movement-packed attraction to this development.

More recent family history is also closely linked to technology: in 2023, the family acquired a works yard with a storage hall and workshop in Beringen. This kind of infrastructure is part of the work of travelling showmen, who transport and maintain their equipment between different fairgrounds.
