See Sturm Bahn Lainez is a travelling circular ride operated by the Belgian Lainez showman family. The attraction was built by the traditional German manufacturer Mack as a Sea Storm ride. It has travelled around funfairs since 1978, visiting Germany, France and Belgium along the way. Today, it can be found at events such as the Foire de Liège and is a true classic with its maritime theme.

On the road since 1978: See Sturm Bahn sends its boats over undulating tracks – nostalgic funfair charm with plenty of thrills.

What it’s like to ride See Sturm Bahn Lainez

You take a seat in one of the boat-shaped gondolas. The boats then circle along an undulating track, rocking like ships in a storm. The ride starts gently and then gradually gets faster. This alternates gentle waves with powerful swings. The music and maritime decor also add to the atmosphere.

There are no inversions. Even so, you can clearly feel the centrifugal force at higher speeds, so it’s worth watching a ride from the outside.

The history of See Sturm Bahn

Mack delivered the attraction in 1978 to German showmen Clauß and Distel, who operated it until 1987. From 1988 to 1990, it travelled around France with Kopp. It then came to Belgium, where the Vanbesien family operated it from 1991 to 2007. Finally, it has belonged to the Lainez family since 2008.
