What to expect
The Kilbi Romont 2027 – known in French as Bénichon de Romont – is tentatively planned for Friday, 10 September, and Saturday, 11 September 2027. These dates follow the event schedule from the previous year. Romont Tourisme has not yet officially confirmed the exact date 2027. At this traditional festival in Fribourg, regional cuisine takes centre stage in the courtyard of Maison Saint-Charles. There will also be music, opportunities to meet people and some activities for children.
Kilbi Romont 2027: Bénichon in the historic town centre
Romont is in the canton of Fribourg and is known for its medieval old town. Bénichon is a traditional autumn harvest festival in the canton. In Romont, it is celebrated in the courtyard of the Maison Saint-Charles. The tourism organisation gives the dates for the 2026 edition as 11 and 12 September. The corresponding Friday–Saturday edition 2027 would therefore plausibly fall on 10 and 11 September. However, this still needs to be confirmed by the local organisers. The Kilbi is primarily a culinary fair, not a large funfair.
Bénichon menu and regional Fribourg specialities
The traditional Bénichon menu includes Cuchaule with Bénichon mustard, cabbage soup, smoked ham, lamb with Botzi pears and meringues with double cream. These dishes reflect the region’s autumn cuisine. The festival is also accompanied by music and dancing in many places. The food is available for a fee, often as a set menu or by pre-order. It has not yet been fully announced whether exactly the same dishes, vendors and booking options will be available again in 2027. We therefore do not give unconfirmed menu prices.
Kilbi Romont 2027: Opening times
Opening hours have not yet been fully published. For 2026, an after-work event starting at 15 was announced for Friday. On Saturday, there was a carousel and children’s activities from 10 to 16. However, these programme times do not show the full daily opening and closing times for the entire event. The structured MEC opening hours will therefore remain blank for now. The listing only shows the expected event days. Once the town or Romont Tourisme publishes the 2027 times, they can be added accurately.
Children’s programme, dance and music
Alongside the food and drink, Bénichon 2026 featured musical entertainment, a children’s carousel and a small children’s flea market. A tea dance was also part of the programme at the time. This makes the event interesting for visitors looking to combine a traditional Fribourg fair with a family-friendly atmosphere. However, the artists and performance times are set anew each year. We therefore do not present an old concert programme as a current commitment. When planning your visit, it helps to check the different offerings and any table reservations separately.
