Bern-Bümpliz – Bümplizer Chilbi 2027

The Bümplizer Chilbi 2027 officially takes place from Friday, 20 August, to Sunday, 22 August 2027 at Chilbiplatz in the Bern district of Bümpliz. The organising association has already confirmed this period on its homepage. The large neighbourhood festival brings together a funfair, association stalls, festival catering and entertainment. Admission is usually free, while rides and food and drink are paid for separately.

Bümplizer Chilbi 2027: A large fair in western Bern

According to the Bümplizer-Chilbi association, it organises the largest fair in the canton of Bern. Its roots also go back to 1948. The association brings together numerous volunteers and local organisations so the neighbourhood can celebrate together. Chilbiplatz is southwest of Bümpliz Süd station. In previous editions, around 35 showmen and market stalls also took part; this figure describes the fair in general and is not a confirmed line-up for August 2027. The newly confirmed dates therefore run from Friday to Sunday.

Funfair, rides and market stalls

Visitors to previous editions could also expect numerous rides and games for different age groups. Alongside the funfair, the programme includes food stalls, drinks and shared festival areas. The association regularly publishes information about showmen and the festival site on its website. However, the current named line-up for 2027 has not yet been published. Bümplizer Chilbi 2027: Opening times

Opening times are provisional as of 2025. In the official event programme published at the time, the funfair was open on Friday from 17 until 2 at night, on Saturday from 14 until 2, and on Sunday from 11 until 22. These times are included in the calendar as a planning guide because no binding timetable for 2027 has been published yet. The 2026 edition also had its own annual programme, which cannot automatically be applied to 2027. Please check the final opening times shortly before your visit.

Festival catering, community work and good causes

Alongside the rides, the fair also offers various food and drink areas, including festival catering and association stalls. According to the organising association, it uses the proceeds to support social projects and organisations in Bern West. So it is not just the fairground but also the sense of community that takes centre stage. For the 2026 edition, the association published its own food and drinks menus. These offerings may be adjusted for 2027. However, specific musical performances, opening ceremonies or special events for the coming year have not yet been confirmed.

Admission, payment methods and getting there

According to the organiser, Chilbiplatz in 3018 Bern-Bümpliz is about a five-minute walk from Bümpliz Süd station. Bümpliz Bachmätteli tram stop is around ten minutes away. The organisers recommend travelling by train, tram or bicycle because parking is limited. In 2026, association stalls accepted cash and TWINT; card payments were not possible there.
