Mayen – Lukasmarkt 2027
What to expect
The Lukasmarkt Mayen 2027 takes place from Saturday, 16 October, to Sunday, 24 October 2027. The organiser has expressly confirmed this date for the 622 edition. For nine days, the city centre around the market square, Boemundring and Genovevaburg is transformed into a large amusement park. You can also look forward to traditional market stalls, livestock markets and a varied programme. Several highlights for 2027 already have confirmed dates.
Lukasmarkt Mayen 2027: fair in the town centre
Lukasmarkt is one of the largest fairs in northern Rhineland-Palatinate. Official visitor information usually cites 250.000 to 300.000 guests during the nine festival days. Around Genovevaburg, you’ll find modern rides, food stalls and a spacious market area. The attractions are also spread across several streets and squares, so you can combine a visit to the fair with a stroll through Mayen town centre.
Rides, market stalls and livestock markets
The typical amusement park includes children’s carousels, larger rides, games and stalls. The specific attractions that will be there in 2027 still need to be checked against the final, current line-up of rides. The market stalls stretch along Bäckerstraße and, on two days, also into the pedestrian zone. The horse market takes place at Viehmarktplatz on 19 October, and the sheep market on 20 October. The horse show has a separate admission charge.
Lukasmarkt Mayen 2027: opening times and admission
The organiser publishes a detailed nine-day schedule for the amusement park, with longer opening hours on both Saturdays. These daily schedules are listed in the MEC calendar. Opening times are provisional, as of 2026, unless the general website has published a clear operating schedule dated 2027. The market site is freely accessible, unlike individual attractions that charge admission. The official horse market currently lists an admission price of eight euros for the show programme; whether this price applies in 2027 still needs to be checked.
Procession, family day and closing fireworks
Several highlights have already been announced for the 622 edition. The big festival procession starts at 13:30 on 16 October. The traditional ceremonial keg tapping follows at around 14 on the bumper cars platform. Family day, with reduced prices, takes place on 21 October. The event ends with fireworks over Genovevaburg at 20 on 24 October. These confirmed dates come from the organiser’s official FAQ and are included in the programme.
Getting there, parking and other information
Mayen city centre is only accessible by car to a limited extent on several streets during Lukasmarkt. The organiser therefore usually offers special park-and-ride options. Parking charges may apply at Viehmarktplatz on the main days; during the cattle markets, it is not available as a regular car park. You can find more information on the official Lukasmarkt website. You can discover other autumn funfairs in our funfair calendar.
