Zauber der Phantasie by Hans-Johann Schaak is an unusual children’s ride where young passengers travel around a winding double-eight track in colourful vehicles. The special feature: two trains run in parallel. This creates a lively scene that catches the eye from the fairground path. The large Mickey Mouse figure and imaginative design also make the ride interesting to children who do not want to get on yet.

What a ride on Zauber der Phantasie is like

Unlike an ordinary children’s carousel, the ride does not follow a simple circular track. The vehicles follow a double-eight track, so the direction of travel keeps changing from the children’s point of view. They remain on a family-friendly, easy-to-follow route. The parallel-running trains add movement to the ride: while one train goes around a bend, the other may already be on another section of the track. It is this interaction that sets this children’s ride apart from many classic circular rides.

The choice of vehicle is also part of the fun. The differently styled cars let children play little roles – for example, as the driver of a car or an emergency vehicle. This makes the ride more than just a trip around the track; it becomes a little excursion into their own world of imagination.

History and special features of the ride

The children’s ride was built by Strempel in 1994. It initially travelled with other showmen, including Neunkirchen, Schöneseifen and Jansen, before joining Schaak. The ride therefore has a long history of touring and is by no means just another children’s ride. The special double-eight layout with two parallel-running trains is also highlighted in the organiser’s description of Moerser Kirmes.

For the Schaak company, Zauber der Phantasie is a standalone ride alongside other well-known attractions owned by the showman family. On the fairground, it combines classic children’s ride technology with an eye-catching, playful appearance. Its distinctive character comes from the combination of two trains, a varied choice of vehicles and a striking, oversized figure.

Who is Zauber der Phantasie suitable for?

Zauber der Phantasie is for younger funfair visitors who are ready to choose a vehicle themselves and enjoy a lively ride, without going on a large roller coaster just yet. The ride is also appealing to parents because it is easy to watch from outside. The striking figure and decorated vehicles give you something to talk about before and after the ride.

Whether your child can ride alone depends on the safety and height rules displayed at the ride. You should check these before buying a ride token. If you want to discover the attraction at a fair, you can find more rides in our attraction guide.
