Galmaarden – Pinksterkermis 2027
What to expect
Pinksterkermis Galmaarden 2027 is one of the regular Pentecost traditions in Galmaarden, a district of the Belgian municipality of Pajottegem. According to the official annual rule, the festival falls on the Pentecost weekend, from Friday, 14, to Sunday, 16 May 2027. The municipality has not yet separately published the individual operating days beyond this confirmed period.
Pinksterkermis Galmaarden 2027 at Marktplein
Marktplein in the village centre is the funfair site named by the municipality. During the Pentecost days, locals and visitors gather here to enjoy the showmen’s rides and stalls. The funfair is part of a series of small village festivals in Pajottegem. When planning your journey, note that Galmaarden is a district: the event is not held in the market square in neighbouring Herne or Gooik.
Rides and stalls
The municipality generally describes its funfairs as featuring carousels, bumper cars, shooting galleries, game stalls and sweet treats. The municipality has not yet announced which of these attractions will actually be set up in Galmaarden for 2027. So you won’t find a line-up of rides copied from the previous year here. Once an official site plan is published, it will be possible to say more about which attractions will be there.
Pinksterkermis Galmaarden 2027 and the Meiboom tradition
One of the village’s traditions is raising the maypole. The municipality and the Flemish documentation on intangible cultural heritage describe how a group brings the decorated tree, with flags and musical accompaniment, to Marktplein. The ceremony traditionally takes place on the Friday evening of the Pentecost funfair. The local organiser still needs to announce whether and when Meiboomplanting 2027 will take place. So don’t plan on it as a confirmed event.
Opening hours, admission and prices
Opening times have not yet been published. Reliable daily operating times from the previous year’s edition are also not currently available. The municipality did impose temporary traffic restrictions around the funfair in 2026, but these restrictions are not the rides’ opening times. Admission details and prices for individual rides for 2027 are also still pending. Check the municipality’s notices before your visit, especially if you plan to come on Friday or the final day of the festival.
Getting to the festival site
Marktplein is in the centre of Galmaarden. You can therefore start by orienting yourself around the village centre when planning your visit. During the 2026 edition, traffic restrictions were in place there and on access roads at certain times. Traffic measures for 2027 have not yet been announced. So don’t count on a particular parking area being available. If you’re travelling by bus or train, check the current connections and any diversions before setting off.
