Highlights & records
Mobile multimedia simulator cinema; custom-built by Bügler in 2016.
9D Action Cinema turns film sequences into a moving show: instead of a ride on rails, the focus is on images, moving seats and special effects.
9D Action Cinema Ernst: The simulator experience
A simulator cinema is quite different from a roller coaster or bumper cars. You sit in a fixed seat throughout the screening, while the film and movements are synchronised. This can make you feel as if you are riding, accelerating or suddenly changing direction, without travelling a long distance. The scenes shown depend on the film programme on offer.
However, the term “9D” is an entertainment and marketing name. It does not refer to nine physical dimensions, but is intended to convey the combination of different sensory impressions. Typical features of these cinemas include immersive images, moving seats and accompanying special effects. 9D Action Cinema is based on this idea of a multimedia funfair experience. The audience is not merely watching a screen; movement actively involves them in the show.

According to Ride-Index data, the mobile cinema is about twelve metres wide, seven metres deep and four metres high. It has a capacity of 21 people per screening. The stated power supply requirement is 20 kilowatts. This means the experience takes place in a relatively compact area. Unlike an open ride, visitors focus on the images and movements inside for the duration of the screening.
9D Action Cinema Ernst: History and change of operator
The attraction was first custom-built by Bügler in 2016. It initially belonged to Friedrich Bügler from Mayen. According to Ride-Index, the ride was transferred to showman Ernst from Leer in June 2025. This history is important for identifying it, as older photos and reports still refer to the cinema under the name Bügler. This is the history of the same ride, not necessarily a second cinema with the same name.
In recent years, the attraction has appeared at various events in northern Germany. For 2026, the trade directory lists the Gallimarkt in Leer, among others. It was announced as a new attraction at the Westersteder Herbstmarkt. This means it was a new ride at this location, not the simulator cinema's premiere.

Who is the Action Cinema suitable for?
The cinema is an alternative for anyone who wants to experience a virtual adventure ride without boarding a high swing ride or a fast roller coaster. The combination of images, movement and surprise effects is particularly appealing.
