No sitting back here: at Magic House, you set your own pace and discover the course step by step.

Magic House Hinrichs: a walk-through funhouse, not a ride

At Magic House Hinrichs, you are not just a passenger—you make your own way through. This travelling walk-through funhouse spans three storeys and combines a course with surprising effects. Unlike a roller coaster, there is no set sequence of movements that keeps you seated in a carriage. Instead, you walk through the different areas and react to what you encounter. Elements described in specialist profiles include optical illusions and moving obstacles. The precise order can change as the attraction is modified, so you should not rely on every detail in an old video. The appeal lies especially in the mix of moving around under your own steam, finding your way and encountering unexpected moments. If you enjoy traditional walk-through funhouses, this is an example with a long history.

History of Magic House

According to Ride-Index, the attraction dates from 1983 and was built by Dietz. It initially belonged to showman Müller from Hanau. From 1987, Magic House travelled with Kutschenbauer from Delmenhorst for many years. Since July 2023, it has been associated with Hinrichs from Großefehn. This documented succession of operators matters because historical photographs from different decades may show the same attraction. Specialist sources also describe modifications over the years. However, the available information does not allow every individual change to be reconstructed in full. One specialist website gives conflicting information about the year in its table heading and main text; Ride-Index and an independent retrospective both cite 1983. This year is therefore recorded as the substantiated date.

Who is Magic House Hinrichs suitable for?

This walk-through funhouse is especially suited to visitors who enjoy exploring and encountering little surprises. You should be prepared to use stairs and make your own way through a course. Whether the attraction is suitable for very young children depends on the current safety and supervision rules. A general age rating or accessible access is not reliably documented. So ask before buying a ticket if you are visiting with a pushchair, mobility needs or younger children. Going through together can also be fun for groups. Just be sure to leave enough room for other visitors and follow staff instructions.

Dimensions, technical details and tips

Ride-Index lists a width of 21 metres, a depth of seven metres and a height of 13 metres, as well as a power connection rating of 50 kilowatts. Specialist reports give the walk-through course as approximately 200 metres long. These figures describe the documented attraction; depending on the setup, additional open space may be needed. The number of effects and the precise duration of the walk-through depend on the attraction's current condition and the pace of visitors. We therefore do not give a fixed visit duration. Before your visit, you can check current locations in the line-up of rides published by the relevant organiser. You can find more attractions in the overview.
